Netherlands: Consumer confidence remains pessimistic in August
Consumer confidence fell to minus 29.0 in August from July’s minus 26.0. As a result, the index remained below the 0-threshold, and indicated pessimism among consumers.
The downtick in August came chiefly on the back of deteriorating views on the general economic situation, as attitudes towards the economy in the past 12 months and the year ahead soured. On the other hand, willingness to buy remained virtually unchanged from the prior month, and stuck in negative territory.
