Netherlands: Economic sentiment hits highest reading since July 2022 in June
Economic sentiment rose to 99.9 in June from May’s 99.4. June’s result marked the best performance since July 2022. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stable sentiment in the industrial sector and stronger sentiment in the construction sector. Meanwhile, confidence in the services sector was healthier in June, whereas sentiment in the retail sector softened in the surveyed month. Finally, consumer confidence waned in June.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index fell in June.
