Netherlands: Economic sentiment picks up in April
Economic sentiment rose to 98.1 in April from March’s 97.8. Nonetheless, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier sentiment in the industrial and retail sectors, as well as stable sentiment in the construction sector. Meanwhile, confidence among consumers and in the services sector weakened in April.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in April.
