Netherlands: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since August 2023 in March
Harmonized inflation rose to 3.1% in March, above February’s 2.7%. March’s result marked the highest inflation rate since August 2023. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages were broadly steady in March, while prices for transportation rose at a stronger pace. Meanwhile, housing and utilities prices expanded.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 3.1% in March (February: 3.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 3.1% in March, from February’s 2.8%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.62% in March over the previous month, below the 0.94% rise seen in February.
