Netherlands: Harmonized inflation slides in December
Harmonized inflation came in at 1.0% in December, which was down from November’s 1.4% and below the Euro area average of 2.9%. Looking at the details of the release, housing and utilities prices fell at a more moderate pace in December compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transportation strengthened.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 4.1% in December (November: 4.9%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 1.2% in December, from the previous month’s 1.6%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.20% in December over the previous month, swinging from November’s 1.49% fall.
