Netherlands: Harmonized inflation rises in July
Harmonized inflation ticked up to 3.5% in July, from June’s 3.4%. July’s result was the highest inflation rate in a year. The acceleration was largely driven by rising price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages plus housing and utilities. On the other hand, price growth for hospitality and transport softened.
However, annual average harmonized inflation edged down to 2.1% in July (June: 2.3%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 3.7% in July from the previous month’s 3.2%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.26% from the previous month in July, accelerating from June’s 0.17% increase. July’s uptick marked the highest reading since April 2023.
