Panama: Economic activity growth rises in January
In January, economic activity expanded 9.9% from the same month a year earlier, which was above December’s 7.5% increase. Economic activity growth accelerated amid growth in the construction, financial services, trade and hospitality sectors. That said, Panama Canal volumes, copper exports and electricity production declined.
Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth fell to 9.2% in January (December: +10.8%), pointing to a worsening trend.
