Panama: Economic activity grows at quickest pace since October 2023 in May
Economic activity rose 3.9% in year-on-year terms in May, which was above April’s 2.9% increase. The print marked the best reading since October 2023. Advance estimates suggest that activity in the transportation and storage, construction, manufacturing and trade sectors expanded during the month, while the agriculture and mining sectors saw output diminish.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 3.7% in May, down from April’s 4.1% reading.
