Panama: Consumer prices slide at a steeper rate on an annual basis in July
Consumer prices were down 0.40% from the previous month in July, contrasting June’s 0.52% increase. The downturn was driven by lower housing, water and energy prices, which more than offset the slight upturn in transportation prices.
Consumer prices decreased 2.2% year-on-year in July, a sharper fall than June’s 1.6% decrease. In addition, the trend pointed down slightly, with the annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 1.0% in July (June: -0.8%).
