Panama: Inflation comes in at highest level since December 2023 in March
Inflation came in at 1.7% in March, up from February’s 1.5%. March’s result was the highest inflation rate since December 2023. Looking at the details of the release, transportation price growth strengthened notably from the previous month, while prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a slower pace in March, and price pressures for housing and utilities ticked down slightly.
The trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.4% in March (February: 1.3%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.35% in March over the previous month, largely in line with the 0.34% rise recorded in February. March’s result was the highest reading since January 2023.
