Panama: Inflation falls to lowest level since July 2023 in June
Inflation fell to 0.9% in June, which was down from May’s 1.3%. June’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate in nearly a year. Looking at the details of the release, prices for clothing and footwear decreased at a sharper rate, and prices for transport grew at a more subdued pace. These factors outweighed an uptick in food price pressures.
Nevertheless, annual average inflation rose to 1.6% in June (May: 1.5%).
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.31% in June over the previous month, which was below the 0.17% drop seen in May. June’s result marked the weakest reading since August 2022.
