Panama: Inflation rises to over one-year high in June
Consumer prices rose 0.2% month-on-month in June, coming in above the flat reading recorded in May. According to the National Comptroller’s Office (Contraloría General de la República), higher prices for transportation and restaurants and hotels were largely behind the increase.
Inflation jumped to 1.2% in June from 0.8% in May, the highest reading since March 2017. Annual average inflation, meanwhile, remained steady in June at May’s 0.6%.
