Panama: Inflation steady in May
Consumer prices were flat in May, contrasting the 0.19% increase observed in April. According to the National Comptroller’s Office (Contraloría General de la República), higher prices for transportation, restaurant and hotels were offset by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and clothing and footwear.
Inflation came in at 0.8% in May, level with April’s reading. Meanwhile, annual average inflation also remained steady in May at the 0.6% print observed in April.
