Panama: Inflation ticks up in October
Consumer prices increased 0.1% month-on-month in October, contrasting September’s flat reading. According to the National Comptroller’s Office (Contraloría General de la República), higher prices for transport; food and beverages; alcohol and tobacco; health; and restaurant and hotels drove the reading, though lower prices for communication as well as recreation and culture weighed down the print.
Inflation rose to 1.0% in October, from 0.8% in September. Annual average inflation, meanwhile, ticked up to 0.8% in October from 0.7% in September.
