Peru: Economic activity falls in August
Economic activity decreased 0.6% year on year in August (July: -1.3% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, the commerce sector softened in August, while the drop in the agricultural sector worsened. Lastly, activity in the manufacturing sector declined at a softer rate, while mining and hydrocarbons output moderated.
On a monthly basis, economic activity grew 0.8% in August, contrasting July’s 1.1% fall. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 0.3% in August, down from July’s 0.5%.
