Peru: Economic activity records slowest growth since February 2021 in December
Economic activity expanded 0.9% year on year in December (November: +1.9% yoy). The result marked the worst reading since February 2021. The downturn largely reflected a slodown the commerce sector and construction sector sectors. Lastly, activity in the manufacturing sector dropped at a sharper rate, while mining and hydrocarbons production gained momentum.
On a monthly basis, economic activity grew 0.1% in December, which was below November’s 0.2% expansion and marking the worst result since February 2021. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 2.7%, down from November’s 2.8%.
