Peru: Inflation rises in June
Consumer prices increased 1.19% over the previous month in June, picking up from the 0.38% increase seen in May. Looking at the details of the release, transport and communication prices rose at a quicker pace in June compared to the previous month and price pressures for food and beverages increased.
Inflation came in at 8.8% in June, up from May’s 8.1%. June’s result was the highest inflation rate since July 1997. Annual average inflation rose to 6.3% in June (May: 5.8%). Lastly, core inflation rose to 5.8% in June, from the previous month’s 5.5%.
