Peru Inflation December 2019

Peru: Inflation stable in December

Consumer prices in Metropolitan Lima rose 0.21% over the previous month in December, up from November’s 0.11% increase. December’s rise was chiefly the result of higher prices for food and beverages and for transports and communications, largely influenced by seasonal factors.

Meanwhile, inflation was unchanged at November’s 1.9% in December, thus remaining below the midpoint of Central Bank’s target range of 2.0% plus or minus 1.0 percentage points. In December, core consumer prices, which exclude energy and food prices, increased 0.1% from the previous month, matching November’s uptick. Finally, core inflation in December came in at 2.2%, marginally down from November’s 2.3%.
