Poland: Business confidence improves but remains pessimistic in May
Business confidence rose to minus 9.6 in May from April’s minus 11.5. As such, the index remained entrenched below the 0-threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among businesses.
May’s improvement was attributed to firms’ turning less pessimistic regarding the current economic situation, while their appraisal of current orderbooks and production grew more downbeat. With regards to expectations, businesses turned less negative over future production, while expectations over orderbooks and employment were less pessimistic compared to the prior month. Moreover, expectations for the future general economic situation grew less pessimistic.
