Poland: Business confidence surges to over nine-year high at the beginning of the year
In January, the manufacturing sector business climate jumped from 3.5 in December to 16.5, according to the Business Tendency Survey released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS-BTS). The print marked the highest reading since June 2008. As a result, business confidence moved further above the zero-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism in the manufacturing sector.
January’s reading was due to a broad-based improvement in all components of the index. Those surveyed had a more optimistic assessment of current production levels and the current economic and financial situation. They also grew far more optimistic about future production levels and their perspectives on employment also strengthened strongly.
