Poland: Businesses confidence moderates but remains elevated in April
In April, sentiment in the manufacturing sector moderated, according to the Business Tendency Survey released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS-BTS). The business climate indicator dropped from march’s 18.7 to 16.8, the second-highest reading since May 2008. As a result, business confidence remained well above the zero-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism in the manufacturing sector.
April’s reading was mainly the result of less optimistic assessments of both the current and future expected economic situation. Moreover, they grew slightly less optimistic about future order books and production levels. However, respondents had a more optimistic assessment of the current production, domestic and foreign orders and of their current financial situation.
