Poland: Business confidence improves but remains in negative territory in August
Manufacturing-sector business confidence came in at minus 6.6 in August, up from July’s minus 10.5. August’s result marked the best reading since March. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 0-threshold and indicated continued pessimism among businesses.
August’s improvement largely reflected firms’ less pessimistic assessments of the current general economic situation, orders books, production levels and their financial situation. Moreover, their future expectation of employment and production levels also turned less negative. However, firms’ appraisal of the future general economic situation as well as their expectations for order books, and their financial situation all worsened compared to the previous month.
