Poland: Industrial sector struggles at the outset of the year
Industrial output rose a timid 1.1% year-on-year in January, following the stronger 3.8% uptick recorded in December, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). January’s slowdown reflected slower growth in manufacturing output and in water supply; a sharper contraction in mining and quarrying; and a downturn in the utilities sector.
Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output fell to 3.9% in January from 4.3% in Decemebr, marking the weakest record since June 2017.
