Poland: Inflation edges higher in May
Consumer prices grew 0.1% on a monthly basis in May, easing from April’s 0.5% rise. May’s result was driven entirely by higher fuel prices, while food and utility prices ticked down marginally.
Inflation edged higher to 1.7% from 1.6%, remaining within the Central Bank’s target band of 2.5% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point. Meanwhile, annual average inflation was stable from a month earlier at 1.8%.
In April, the latest month for which data is available, core consumer prices rose 0.5% from a month earlier, contrasting March’s flat reading. Core inflation inched down to 0.6% from March’s 0.7%.
