Poland: Inflation moderates in December
According to a flash estimate released by the Central Statistical Office on 3 January, consumer prices increased 0.2% in December, down from November’s 0.5%, which had marked the fastest increase in 11 months. A breakdown by category is not yet available; it will be made available on 15 January.
In December, inflation came in at 2.0%, below November’s 2.5% reading, which had marked a five-year high. The result was within the Central Bank’s 2.5% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point target band. Conversely, annual average inflation rose to an over four-year high of 2.0%, from 1.9% a month earlier.
Core consumer prices grew by 0.1% over the previous month in November (the last month for which data is available), down from October’s 0.3% rise. Meanwhile, core inflation inched up to 0.9% from 0.8% a month earlier.
