Poland: Inflation rises in July

Consumer prices increased 0.40% over the previous month in July, picking up from June’s 0.10% rise. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices rose at a quicker pace in July compared to the previous month and price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels gathered steam.

Inflation rose to 5.0% in July, above June’s 4.4%. July’s figure was the highest inflation rate since May 2011. Meanwhile, annual average inflation rose to 3.4% in July (June: 3.3%), and core inflation ticked up to 3.7% in July, from the previous month’s 3.5%.
