Poland: Retail sales record slowest expansion since February in July
Retail sales grew 8.9% in year-on-year terms in July, which was a deterioration from June’s 13.0% increase. The result marked the worst reading since February. Looking at the details of the release, motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts sales dropped in July, while textiles, clothing and footwear sales grew at a softer pace. On the other hand, sales of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels grew markedly.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 5.8% in July (June: +5.3%), signaling an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
