Poland: Retail sales growth slides to two-year low in May
Retail sales grew 1.8% in year-on-year terms in May, which followed April’s 3.4% increase. May’s result marked the worst reading since February 2021. Looking at the details of the release, motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts sales decreased at a softer rate in May, while textiles, clothing and footwear sales swung to contraction.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 1.8% in May (April: +3.4%), signaling a worsening trend in the retail trade sector.
