Romania: Decline in industrial activity softens in June
Industrial output declined 5.6% compared to the same month a year earlier in June, which was a less pronounced contraction than May’s 5.8% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, mining and quarrying output rose at a stronger pace while manufacturing production plunged in June.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.3%, down from May’s minus 3.0%. On a monthly basis, industrial output fell 2.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in June, which was greater than May’s 1.5% fall and marked the worst result since June 2022.
