Romania: Decline in industrial output softens in February
Industrial output fell 2.2% year on year in February (January: -3.9% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing production dropped at a softer pace in February, and mining and quarrying output gained steam.
On a monthly basis, industrial output increased 2.7% in seasonally adjusted terms in February, rebounding notably from January’s 3.4% fall and marked the best result since May 2023. Meanwhile, the trend improved slightly, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.3% in February, up from January’s minus 2.4%.
