Romania: Decline in industrial output softens in September
Industrial output dropped 4.2% compared to the same month of the previous year in September, which was a less pronounced drop than August’s 5.2% decrease. The result marked the best reading since March. September’s smaller drop was partly due to a softer fall in manufacturing production. In contrast, mining and quarrying output lost steam.
On a monthly basis, industrial output grew 0.7% in seasonally adjusted terms in September, which was better than August’s flat reading. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at an over two-year low of minus 4.5%, down from August’s minus 4.1% reading.
