Romania: Growth in industrial production accelerates in June
Industrial output expanded 4.6% in annual terms in June, a notable acceleration from May’s 1.2% growth rate. According to the Statistical Institute, the expansion in June came on the back of sustained growth in the manufacturing, and mining and quarrying sectors. Production in the electricity and gas, steam and air conditioning sector, however, contracted.
On a seasonally- and working-day adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production output expanded 1.6% in June, strongly contrasting May’s 0.4% contraction. Annual average growth in industrial production, nevertheless, fell from May’s 6.6% to 6.4% in June.
