Romania: Decline in industrial activity softens in December
Industrial production fell 1.2% year-on-year in December, moderating from November’s 1.4% fall. December’s softer drop was partly due to a milder fall in manufacturing production. In contrast, mining and quarrying output fell at a sharper rate.
On a monthly basis, industrial production grew 1.2% in seasonally-adjusted terms in December, which was below November’s 3.0% expansion. Meanwhile, the annual average growth of industrial production came in at 7.1% for 2021 as a whole, rebounding sharply from 2020’s 9.2% decline.
