Romania: Inflation drops to lowest level since July 2021 in May
Inflation came in at 5.1% in May, which was down from April’s 5.9%. May’s result represented the lowest inflation rate since July 2021. The decline was broad-based, with lower price pressures recorded for food, non-food goods, and services.
In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.6% in May (April: 8.1%).
Lastly, consumer prices dropped a seasonally adjusted 0.11% in May over the previous month, contrasting April’s 0.08% increase. May’s result marked the sharpest fall in prices since September 2020.
