Romania: Inflation hits fresh multi-year high in March
Consumer prices rose 0.3% in March over the previous month, matching February’s print. Behind the increase were higher prices for non-food and food goods, as well as for services. The strongest increases were recorded for fruit and legumes.
Inflation came in at a multi-year high of 5.0% in March, up from 4.7% in February. As a result, inflation moved further above the Central Bank’s target range of 1.5%–3.5%. Consequently, annual average inflation rose from 2.1% in February to 2.5% in March, the highest level since April 2014.
