Romania: Inflation stable in December
Consumer prices rose 0.34% over the previous month in December, picking up from November’s 0.13% increase. December’s figure marked the sharpest increase in prices since March. December’s upturn largely reflected rebounding rising prices for food, while price pressures for non-food goods picked up.
Inflation came in at 2.1% in December, unchanged from November’s reading, which had marked the lowest inflation rate since September 2017. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.6% in December (November: 2.8%). Lastly, core inflation edged down to 2.9% from November’s 3.1%.
