Russia: Consumer confidence stagnates in Q4
The consumer confidence indicator published by the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) was unchanged in Q4 2017, breaking a sequence of six improvements in a row. The consumer confidence indicator was steady at Q3’s minus 11 points. The index remains firmly entrenched below the 0-threshold, which indicates that pessimists outnumber optimists.
According to the survey, households opinions were largely stable from the third quarter, with their assessments of their personal financial situation and the short term economic situation unchanged. However, consumers were less pessimistic regarding both their ability to make major purchases.
