Russia: Industrial production increases in April
Industrial production picked up in April, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). Industrial output grew 1.3% year-on-year, increasing from the 1.0% rise logged in March. The acceleration was driven by stronger manufacturing and mining output and a better performance in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sector. Gains were partially offset by a deterioration in the water supply sector.
Annual average growth inched down to 1.2% in April from 1.3% in March. A month-on-month comparison revealed that industrial production also gained momentum, as output rose 0.5% over the previous month (March: +0.3% month-on-month).
