Russia: Inflation steadies at historic low in February
In February, consumer prices rose 0.2% from the previous month, a notch below the 0.3% month-on-month rise observed in January.
Inflation rested at a historic low of 2.2% in February, matching January’s result. Price pressures have fallen notably in 2017, in part due to a solid performance by the ruble and lower food prices thanks to a healthy harvest. Inflation lies far below the Central Bank’s target of 4.0%. Annual average inflation also declined from 3.5% in January to 3.3% in February, another historical low.
