Slovakia: Economic sentiment hits highest reading since May 2022 in January
Economic sentiment rose to 97.0 in January from December’s 95.1. January’s result marked the strongest sentiment since May 2022. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
Confidence in the services and construction sector improved in January. However, sentiment languished in the industrial and retail sectors. Lastly, consumer confidence rose in January.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index rose in January.
