Slovakia: Economic sentiment eases, remains above threshold in August
Economic sentiment fell to 101.1 in August from July’s 101.3. That said, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier confidence in the industrial and retail sectors. Less positively, confidence in the services sector waned in August, and sentiment deteriorated in the construction sector and among consumers.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index rose in August.
