Slovakia: Industrial output rebounds in January
Industrial production grew 2.2% year-on-year in January, contrasting December’s 1.1% contraction. The expansion was due to an increase in manufacturing, while both the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply and mining and quarrying components contracted heavily. Strong increases in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products as well as in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products were behind the positive performance of the manufacturing sector.
After seasonal adjustment, industrial production increased 0.3% in month-on-month terms contrasting December’s 2.6% fall.
Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output declined from 4.2% in December to 3.7% in January.
