Slovakia: Industrial production at a 9-month low in December
Industrial production rose 3.1% on an annual basis in December, a tad below November’s 3.3% rise. The headline reading was dragged by a contraction in mining and quarrying activity, a well as a fall in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning. Meanwhile, manufacturing expanded in December, albeit at a slower pace than a month earlier.
After adjusting for seasonal effects, industrial production decreased by 0.9% over the previous month in December, a notch above November’s revised 1.0% contraction (previously reported: -0.9% month-on-month).
Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output edged up from November’s 4.4% to 4.6% in December.
