Slovakia: Industrial production jumps in January
Industrial production rose 7.2% on an annual basis in January, markedly up from December’s revised 4.3% increase (previously reported: +3.1% year-on-year). Notably, mining and quarrying activity, and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning, both rebounded from a month earlier. Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector continued gathering momentum in January.
After adjusting for seasonal effects, industrial production increased 1.2% month-on-month in January (December: +0.0% month-on-month s.a.; previously reported: -0.9% mom s.a.).
Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output climbed to 4.9% in January, up from December’s 4.4% expansion.
