Slovakia: Harmonized inflation falls to over one-year low in September
Harmonized inflation dropped to 9.0% in September, below August’s 9.6%. September’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a more moderate rate in September. In contrast, prices for transportation rose at a quicker pace. Meanwhile, housing and utilities price growth moderated.
In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 13.0% in September (August: 13.4%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 8.2% in September, from August’s 8.9%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.32% in September over the previous month, picking up from the 0.09% increase logged in August. September’s result was the sharpest increase in prices since April.
