Slovakia: Harmonized inflation rises in January
Consumer prices rose 1.1% month-on-month in January, up from December’s 0.1% fall. According to data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR), the food and non-alcoholic beverages sub-component registered the sharpest increase, followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels. Meanwhile, prices for clothing and footwear decreased in January. In addition, the harmonized index for consumer prices rose 1.2% month-on-month, up from a 0.1% decrease a month earlier.
January’s harmonized inflation increased 2.2%, after recording 1.9% in December. Meanwhile, annual average harmonized inflation remained at 2.5%, unchanged from December’s result.
