Slovakia: Inflation falls to lowest level in over three years in August
Consumer prices slid 0.10% over the last month in August, contrasting July’s 0.10% increase. August’s drop largely reflected falling prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Meanwhile, transport prices rose at a more moderate pace than in July while prices for healthcare rebounded.
Inflation dropped for the sixth month running in August to 1.4%, following July’s 1.7% and marking the lowest inflation rate since July 2017. Similarly, annual average inflation inched down to 2.4% (July: 2.5%). Lastly, harmonized inflation dropped to 1.4% in August from July’s 1.8%.
