Slovakia: Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level in almost three years in April
Harmonized inflation came in at 2.4% in April—matching the Euro area average—down from March’s 2.7%. April’s reading represented the weakest inflation rate since May 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages grew at a slower pace in April, although prices for transportation rose at a quicker rate.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 7.3% in April (March: 8.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 2.1% in April from March’s 2.3%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.37% over the previous month in April, accelerating from the 0.13% increase logged in March.
