Slovakia: Harmonized inflation jumps in July
Harmonized inflation rose to 3.0% in July from June’s 2.4%. July’s reading was the highest inflation rate since February and outpaced the Euro area average. Looking at the details of the release, prices for housing and utilities plus food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a quicker pace in July, while price pressures for transportation eased.
Meanwhile, annual average harmonized inflation fell to 5.1% in July (June: 5.7%). Consumer price inflation rose to 2.6% in July from the previous month’s 2.1%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.32% over the previous month in July, picking up from the 0.05% rise recorded in June.
