Slovakia: Inflation ticks up in March
Consumer prices increased 0.2% month-on-month in March, matching February’s print. According to data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR), the strongest increases in prices were recorded for clothing and footwear. March’s rise was partially offset by lower prices for transport and for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance.
Inflation came in at 2.4% in March following a 2.1% increase in February. Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices rose 0.2% month-on-month in March, matching February’s increase. Harmonized inflation accelerated from 2.2% in February to 2.5% in March.
Lastly, annual average harmonized inflation inched up to 1.7% in March from 1.6% in February, the highest reading since October 2013.
